People have been using security protections for more than a century. Technology has made it easy for the homeowners to go for wireless security systems. Nowadays, home security systems have become an important part of our lives. There are many types of home security systems that not only protect our property but most importantly, our family.
There are two types of security systems - the wired one and the wireless security system. The technology used in wired and wireless systems are completely different. Wireless systems do not require wiring the house like wired security systems and send messages through radio signals to a central control panel. Wireless security systems are very easy to install and do not need any kind of wiring. These wireless systems were once seen as undependable compared to the wired systems. But with the latest technology added these wireless systems have won the heart of many people.
Components of a wireless security system
The basic computer is the same like other security systems. It consists of touchpad, alarms, detectors, cameras and a control panel. The wireless systems have a transmitter built inside that sends radio wave frequencies to the control panel. Touch pads are placed at the entrance that provides activation and deactivation of the system whenever needed. A backup system is there, which comes into action during the time of power cut thus providing continuous security.
The cost effective systems have an alarm that rings when the device is activated by an intruder. On the other hand, the more costly wireless alarm systems indicate the actual device that set off the alarm. This extra facility helps you to identify the cause of the alarm and the room that holds the possible danger.
Wireless security systems are expensive
The wireless security systems are expensive compared to the wired systems and also require time to time battery replacement cost. Very few people can afford to install the wireless systems because of their high cost of installation. But over time these wireless systems have become popular and the cost of the equipments have become affordable.
The 'Do it Yourself' wireless security system
The wireless security system are easy to install and can be done all by you. They are much easier to install than the traditional wired security systems. It does not involve any kind of dirty work like ripping your floor apart and drilling. It is best to keep the installation of wired security systems to the professionals where as the wireless can be fitted even by you if are a bit technology savvy.
Advanced alarm systems
There is wide range of advanced alarm systems available. Some of them can detect any break-ins or fire and can self contact a number of telephone numbers if the alarm is activated. Again, there are systems with which you can monitor the home through a web browser or even a mobile phone.
Easily moveable components
One of the biggest advantages of the wireless systems is that the components can be easily moved to different positions in the house to provide protection where ever it is needed. The systems can also be shifted to another house.
Disadvantages of wireless systems
One of the negative points about the wireless systems is that the transmitters of the wireless security system runs on batteries that need to be checked regularly in order to make sure that they have adequate charge to run. Power in the batteries can be saved by installing motion sensor cameras. But these security systems still require constant checking and monitoring. Regular checking can keep you updated about the power source of the battery. If the power source weakens, the distance the signal is able to travel also reduces up to 50 percent of the proposed distance. In this case, the system will function but the signal will not reach the central control receiver thus hampering the system’s effectiveness.
Wireless security alarm options
There are varieties of options for the homeowner to choose from the wireless security alarm options. They are as such:
• Wireless security cameras around the boundary of the house.
• Include smoke or fire detectors into the alarm systems.
• Install glass breakage detectors in the alarm system to protect the doors and windows.
• Install motion detectors in the important places of the house.
